I am commenting on my own blog, what kind of sense does that make?

Anyway I just had the best run of my life on Saturday.

I am convinced it was because I was so prepared.

Friday night I went out with a friend and watched Appalachian State destroy Richmond in the Semifinals of the NCAA Football Playoffs. Looking back on it I think staying out late and getting very little sleep helped a little, but stumbling onto a new nutrition discovery was the key. From what I understand, many endurance athletes carb load before a race (eating tons of carbohydrates the night before). Well being a diabetic has made that stratgy sound a little rough. Carbs break down into sugar that we must balance with insulin to keep from feeling like crap or dying, so I loaded up on hot wings instead (mostly protein) I also drank so much diet coke that I could barely sleep.
I woke up a little after 6 and ate half a bowl of sugary cereal. I had to try and quiet the noises in my belly. Then I drove to the park to meet Steve the Pigeon Ahn and Wayne my Boss Eberle. Was he blasting Juvenile? I'm in for it.
After running the first two miles they were both sure for some reason that I was about to die. But I was at my lowpoint for the entire run and I didn't think I felt that bad. I'm just slow.
After running the only true hill on the run and pushing my heart rate to 178 I started feeling pretty stinking good. I didn't just put stinking in there for fun. I was a touch gassy.
I ate a few snacks and kept checking my sugar and it was great. Except for the 187 (murder) at mile 4. We ran all the trails in the park and noone felt like stopping so we just headed into town. I had a code red and ran into Burger King where they were out of toilet paper and hand towels. Next time I'm going to Long John Silvers. what
We ran and ran and ran and ended up running right by the ticket line for Appalachians championship game vs some other school they are going to kill on Friday. Did I mention we just kept going all the way downtown where I started thinking about how far away we were from the parking lot and my ride home. I think at about mile eight I actually started running faster because Steve and I were leaving the IP (Insulin Producer). We passed the Hospital at about mile nine and my knee started hurting and we decided to go the short way back to the cars. When it was all over we had been running for 2 hours! By far my farthest and longest run to date, and that didn't account for the time we spent stopping to check sugars and stretch.
Lowboy didn't eveb show up.
